Martin Blackwood
After lying on his CV about having a Master's degree in Parapsychology - a desperate measure to get a decent job after dropping out of high school to take care of his mentally ill mother and himself - Martin worked for several years in the Magnus Institute's library before being brought on as an assistant for the new Head Archivist, Jonathan Sims. There, he risked life and limb more than once, first to investigate the statements taken and recorded by the Archivist, and then in an effort to stop the world from ending on more than one occasion.
In the process, Martin has been significantly touched by the primordial fear of being Seen, but he's been greatly impacted by the concept of being Alone, Forgotten, Overlooked, Forsaken; so much so that he's become quite the agent of it, himself. He's affable, he's thoughtful, he puts everyone before himself — but there's a quiet stillness behind all of that, a void that knows it's the only thing it can rely on, and he's becoming more and more okay with that.

appearance
Martin takes up a lot of space, for someone who wants to take up as little space as possible at all times. Tall and broad like his father, Martin can almost always be seen with his shoulders hunched and his head ducked; he's quite self-conscious about it. He usually wears muted colours befitting the atmosphere of his academic job, and his love of vintage aesthetics is pretty apparent just at a glance — verging on hipsterish, but it helps with making it seem like he has a mostly thrifted wardrobe by choice rather than necessity. 🌧️ He's so good at making people underestimate him, he got one evil boss arrested and the other to lose a major bet (and then killed). The first evil boss complimented him both times and Martin has complicated feelings about THAT.
